I hope that you are having a wonderful day. I hope that today you remember that you are so, so richly loved. I hope that today you remember that you are created in the image of God. I hope that you remember that you are His masterpiece, that you just aren’t finished yet. You are a work of art. You are beautiful. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You were knit together in your mother’s womb, every intricate detail of your personality, of your wonderful face, was made by the Creator of the earth, the moon, the stars. And I’m pretty positive that He did not make a mistake when He created you. This is what He says about you. This is the song that He sings over you. Can you hear it? Can you hear the Song of Your Father? You are beautiful. You are wonderful. You are made by the King of all the Earth. Daresay you that He made a single mistake? He’s perfect. He made you. He loves you. He is there for you. He made you! Praise Him, the King of all the Earth for the life that you have! Isn’t He good? Listen to the things He sings over you. Listen to His song. God loves you. Remember that. Remember that.
You are wonderful. You are good. Let me say that first because everything else I am about to say is completely dependant on those two truths. I am forgiven. Not because I’ve earned forgiveness. Not because I deserve it. Not because I’m a good person. No, I am forgiven because I am washed clean by the blood of the Lamb. Because of Your great sacrifice whose name is Jesus. Thank You God for Jesus.
You are a good Father. I am Your child. A child of the one True King. Thank You for being my Father. Thank You for loving me no matter what, and forgiving me when I come running back to You after I fall into sin again, and again, and again. Thank You God for Your forgiveness.
You have saved me. You are my Savior. I am saved. You have taken me out of the sin-filled death pit that I was living in before I met You. So don’t let me fall there anymore, please. You have given me new life. You have given me not only new life, but better life, life worth living, alive life. Thank You so, so much God. So help me to live this life that You have given me, first for you, then for others. Help me to be a selfless person God, following Your example and doing everything that I do for You and Your glory. I love You God. I truly want to serve You today. I want to live a life that is pleasing to You. You are wonderful, You are amazing.
I truly hope that you are doing well and enjoying this beautiful, God-given day today! If you are not, remember that He is with you to help you through it! I am here to pray for y’all whenever you need me to!
I just thought I would warn you guys that I have recently come to the realization that these devotionals, yes, they are for God, but since I am writing them I actually don’t have to follow one specific format of writing! I get to choose! So let me know if I am bugging you by testing out some different methods, styles and formats!
God, today I ask that You would open our hearts to hear what You want us to hear. Help me to say what You want me to say. I love You. Amen.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who are listening.
I love this verse! It is so true that the things that come out of our mouths need to help build others up, and most certainly not tear them down! It is so important that we, as Christians encourage each other! Yeah, sometimes people have bad days, but one thing that really isn’t that helpful is to blame somebody for that persons bad day, and talk about what all the person could do to change that. Yes, if the person having a bad day could do something to change that in the future, it should be addressed, but when it is still the bad day sometimes the best thing for you to do is listen and try to help them move on and have a better day. We’ve got to lift each other up! If we are discouraging and remind people of everything that is rough all the time it’s only going to end in a spiral of self-pity for that person. So this week, everyday, try sending somebody an encouraging message, like a reminder of God’s love for them, or a reminder of how much you care about them, or maybe just be super cheerful and be like, “Good morning! Isn’t this a beautiful day God has made today? I’m breathing the air He as given, reading by the light of the sun He made and walking on solid ground! Thank You God for today!” Although I’ve found this cheerful of a message could quite possible irritate the person, so just make sure you know their general disposition before you send it! I wouldn’t recommend sending it to a person who is grieving or anything like that, if you know what I mean! God is with you today! He will make your day better- if you let Him! So be that to somebody else, make their day better just by being in it! God will see that effort that you put in, and reward you for it! Plus it’s rewarding in it’s own way, like giving a small gift to somebody. 🙂
You are with me every step I take today. Thank You, thank You, thank You for that. You are with me on my bad days and my good days God. You encourage me when I’m down by using the people around me, music, and just blessing me with Your presence. God, help me to bless somebody else with the things that I say today. Use me to encourage, and build others up. I love You God!
Whenever I write the next devotional I plan to go over the “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths” part of that verse, because that is important too! I hope that you all have a wonderful fantastic day today! God loves you!
P.S.If you like TobyMac, here is his song “Speak Life“
Sing to God today! Just a reminder to sing to the LORD of LORDs! There are so many great Christian artists and bands out there that you can enjoy no matter what type of music you are normally into. Seriously, my youtube feed is full of Christian acoustic, hard rock and pop! God is spreading into the worlds music too! Isn’t it fantastic! God is so amazing! Sing to Him! He loves you!
I got up early enough to be outside to watch the sunrise this morning. It was amazing. I was overcome with a sense of joy and peace and I started singing, hymns, random songs I made up, pop songs that could be about God. I was just, amazed. We live out in the country, 11 miles away from the nearest town and far enough away from my nearest neighbor that I didn’t wake them up. It was so quiet, and we live beside a valley so the sound bounced and I have a decent voice so I just felt… Awesome. At peace. Safe. My mind was cleared in a way it hasn’t been in weeks, and I spent 3 hours outside, as the world came alive, 3 hours singing, reading my Bible, and thinking. 3 hours with God. It was the best thing I have experienced in months. I pray with all my heart I can do it again tomorrow, and I pray that you can get up to see the sun rise at least once this week. I don’t mean glancing at it in the mirror on the way to work, I mean just go outside and sit for a few minutes to watch the sun rise. Thank God for another amazing day.
Thank you so much for today, thank you for these 24 hours that You have blessed me with.
Love is patient, love is kind, love does not envy, is not boastful, is not conceited, does not act in-properly, is not selfish, is not provoked, does not keep a record of wrongs, finds no joy in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth. Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
God wants us to love everybody just like Jesus did, and this really isn’t easy. We get mad and frustrated at people when they don’t:
It’s hard not to get frustrated when people do these things, but God asks us to love these people, this meaning we have to try to be patient and kind toward the people who may not know God’s love, or may have a different opinion on what is right and/or wrong. By being kind, and just having patience with that person, you are showing God’s love, even if that person doesn’t know it, eventually he/she will end up wondering how you have patience and kindness.
How do you learn to have patience and kindness for somebody who really gets on your nerves? Well, you pray. Pray for the love and the kindness that Jesus had. Take a piece of paper and write down the names of people who you need to have more patience, starting with family members. No matter how close you and your family are, everybody can still work on patience. Then move on to the people who you just don’t care to be around, then move on to the people you cannot stand.
You are amazing, thank You so much for all the people you have put in my life, please help me to get along with them. Please help me to love them like you would; patiently, kindly, not boastfully, or conceitedly, more than anything else please help me be patient.
Why do bad things happen to good people? This is the main argument atheist have against Christianity, because they find it hard to believe that there is a God that is all powerful, and all good, and that that God would let bad things happen to good people who believed in Him? This is not an easy question to answer, but something that I would like to point out is that nothing happens for no reason whatsoever. Everything has a purpose. For example, a blind man may be blind so that he can write the best music ever. Or a deaf man may become deaf to write some of the most amazing things ever. A good scripture to point out may be John 9:1-3, Jesus and His disciples come across a blind man, one of His disciples asks why the man is blind, is it because his parents sinned? No, Jesus answered, it was so that the work of the LORD may be displayed through him. Bad things don’t necessarily happen because somebody did something bad. God allows some things to happen for reasons we may never understand, the main thing is to trust that He know what He’s doing. “For I know the plans I have for you,” said the LORD, “They are for a future and a hope. Not for destruction.” Jeremiah 29:11 says. It’s true.
“How do you find peace in the hectic, crazy world around us?” A friend asked me one day.
“Well, that’s a good question, one that I’m not sure I can answer without some thought.” I answered.
“But you have peace, I have never seen you stress out, I’ve never seen you cry, or have a meltdown.” She said.
This sort of shocked me, I had never thought about it before, but compared to a lot of people, I guess I do have a sense of peace, a sense that could only have come from my Heavenly Father. With all that goes on around us, many people think it is not possible to have peace, the think of life as one non-stop hectic roller-coaster. And it kind of is, but peace is when you figure out how to hit the pause button, and stop, and breathe for a second. When you take time out of your day to sit down and just be still before God, you are experiencing the best kind of peace there is. I really encourage you to take time out of each day to be with Him. Listening to Christian music or watching Christian movies or even reading Christian books doesn’t count, although all of those are good it’s still not really…. time with Him. You have to just sit, and think, and pray…… and listen. That’s spending time with Him. Talk to Him. Yes He knows everything that goes on in your life and your head, but He wants you to tell Him. It’s kind of like when you spend time with a friend, if you watch a movie with them, or read a book or listen to music its not- how do I put it- personal. It’s not personal. Yet if you sit down and talk to them and listen to them it is personal. It’s the same with God. You can listen to music and read books and watch movies, but in order for you to stay close to Him, and learn more about Him, you actually have to sit down and talk with Him. Even now, as I’m writing I am writing about Him, and thinking about Him, but I’m not spending time with Him. Afterwards I’m going to do my Bible study and actually spend time with Him. When you do this, you will find peace.
John 8:12 Says that Jesus is the light of the world. If we have Jesus in our hearts, then are we too light of the world? I think we should be. We should shine with the light of Jesus, by honoring Him with our actions and words- with our lives. We way we live our lives can show so, so much about us. Our faith should be a big part of our daily lives, a part so big that others can point and say, “Hey, that person shines with the light of Jesus!” If we live like everybody else, then we are a like a burnt out light-bulb in a room full of burnt out light bulbs; we don’t do any good. If we live like we have Jesus in our hearts, then we are a functional light-bulb in a room full of broken ones. We shed light on the broken, just like, if we live the way Jesus wants us to, we can shed light on the broken-hearted’s lives.
Ask yourself this question, and answer honestly, are you a functional, dim, or broken light-bulb?
“Our actions speak louder than our words.”
What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus Christ? The answer is fairly simple, but it will change your life. The word “disciple” is about a student or apprentice. Disciples back when Jesus day would follow their rabbi, or teacher, wherever he went, learning from his rabbi’s teaching, and being trained to do as his rabbi did. Basically, a disciple is a follower, but only if we take the word follower very literally. Becoming a disciple of Jesus is as simple as obeying His call to follow.
When Jesus called His first disciples they probably didn’t know where Jesus would take them, or the amazing impact it would have on their lives, but they knew that they were called to follow. They took Jesus’ call literally and began following everywhere He went and doing everything He did.
It’s impossible to be a follower of someone and not end up like that person. Jesus said, “A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone, when he is fully trained he will be like his teacher. ” (Luke 6:40). That’s the whole point of being a disciple of Jesus: we imitate Him, and we carry on His ministry in the process.
Yet somehow many have come to believe that you can be a “Christian” without being like Christ. A follower who doesn’t follow. How does that work? Answer, it doesn’t. Many people have chosen to take on the name of Christ and do nothing else.
(This idea was taken from Francis Chan’s “Multiply” Unfortunately I have not reached the level of faith to write something like that yet. )
